The STORY FOCUS of "THE SEEKER IN FOREVER" by Alan Fox
(NEW YORK) ---- "THE SEEKER IN FOREVER" is a new novel that is a political comedy about the insanity of our modern world. (Wide release: Feb 19, 2008. Preview edition already available on Amazon and BN.com.)
THE STORY
The story is about a young man and woman who emerge from absolute nowhere. They come bursting into the world, and they are filled with the raw energy of youth. They want to change things, to fix things.
They disturb the world order, immediately. And they get thrown into combat, into a tremendous fight with the American establishment.
The battle becomes about fixing the world in a special way: They start spreading a love craze.
The American establishment has to shut them down. Love is mighty, and love is the enemy. Love is the burning point of life, and because life is sorrowful, love is agony. -- Love is wildness. -- If a love craze rips lose, who knows where we could all end up?
The story becomes about these two young lovers versus the American world order, and all the powers of the world.
We hope they don't get themselves good and "dead."
THE YOUNG PEOPLE are not asleep
The young man and woman at the heart of this story are "sound chasers." A sound chaser, we learn, is a special kind of storyteller. . . . . A sound chaser is a kind of marvelous wild-person who searches out the secret principles of life and great "showmanship," and then takes them into the world to prove them out in battle.
The young man goes around telling the truth in the form of stories that are based on "opposites." By opposites we mean things that are opposite to logic. Opposites that pose a violent attack on logic. Opposites to common thinking. Opposites to common existence.
His stories confront all the establishment pictures. He disturbs their official stories. Their right and honorable -- and what turn out to be totally bull-mud stories of reality.
THE FIGHTING THEME that runs through this story
Now all of the young man's stories, and this book, have a running theme. . . . Going out to the larger sense of the world, this is about: People drifting toward madness.
It's about how mankind is mad and always has been. And how we are forever reaching moments where large masses of people are losing the connection to reality.
This is about: People moving toward unreality. About our world going crazy.
We're forever reaching points where large groups are breaking off into fun things like group madness, group violence, group brutality.
Here, individual beauty confronts the group monster. Individual beauty comes on the scene of world events in the form of two young people. Each carries a tremendous will-to-beauty.
The story is about their struggle. And in the larger sense, the story is saying, "Fight!" It's an incitement to fight for change. To fight for greater and greater levels of freedom. To fight for freedom of thought. To fight for freedom of person. To fight for freedom of character. In this life, to forever fight to be you. To love the world in every way, and to love "you" in "your way."
"THE SEEKER IN FOREVER" tells the story of two young people who tear a hole in space, and hurl the world into a mindbender. Into a psychedelic, offbeat, rhythmic, color-splashed journey of love. . . . If this isn't jazz, it'll have to do until the real thing comes along. . . . The story will fill you with wild feeling and leave you burning with modern cool.
